Dharavi Social Mission (DSM) is the flagship initiative of Navbharat Mega Developers Private Limited, designed to drive a comprehensive transformation of Dharavi. The mission encompasses three primary dimensions of change: social, infrastructure and economic.

It is dedicated to fostering sustainable livelihoods, enhancing the quality of life and empowering Dharavi’s residents to build a brighter, more resilient and inclusive future.

DSM places special emphasis on youth empowerment, women’s development, industrial growth and support for underprivileged groups, striving to create a self-reliant ecosystem through initiatives that combine skill development, employment generation, social engagement and community welfare.

Key Focus Areas of Dharavi Social Mission

01.Skilling
& Employment

The cornerstone of DSM’s efforts, skilling and employment programs are designed to equip Dharavikars with job-oriented technical and soft skills, ensuring sustainable livelihoods.

Three-Part Approach:

Formulation of Specific Programs

  • Imparting training on prioritised skills
  • Partnering with training agencies specialising in identified skill areas
  • Using standard training modules
  • Providing certifications from NSDC and other reputed bodies to ensure credibility and acceptance
  • Maintaining high quality and standardisation across all programs

Mobilisation & Enrollment

  • Engaging eligible youth, women and other segments for enrollment in specific programs as and when they are launched

Community Events

  • Facilitating placements in the corporates, organised sectors, gig economy roles and institutions after completion of training programs
Skills prioritised based on employment opportunities

Industry-specific skills:

  • White goods servicing and repairs, including AC and refrigerator repairs, plumbing, construction painting and security training

Service-sector skills:

  • Retail sales, nursing, stewarding, serving, cooking, housekeeping, packaging, driving and tele calling

Entrepreneurial and boutique skills:

  • Performing arts, mobile repairs, beauty therapy, tailoring, fitness training and digital marketing
