Haqdarshak – An awareness and access camp for women
In collaboration with Haqdarshak, this camp empowers women by connecting them to vital government schemes. The initiative focuses on raising awareness about programs like Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, ABHA and e-Shram. It also facilitates application and enrollment processes, ensuring accessibility. By equipping women with the knowledge and tools to utilise these resources effectively, this camp seeks to enhance their quality of life and socio-economic standing.
Lok Vikas welfare camp
The camp is dedicated to educating Dharavi residents about various government welfare schemes. Targeted at marginalised groups, including workers in unorganised sectors, widowed women, BPL families and the elderly, the camp highlights critical schemes in healthcare, digital health records, social security and life insurance. The initiative bridges the gap between government resources and the underprivileged, enabling them to lead more secure and dignified lives.
Dharavi Job Fair
The job fair is a strategic initiative to connect residents with employment opportunities while offering them skill enhancement programs. The initiative aims to transform Dharavi into a thriving hub of economic activity. It plays a key role in bridging income gaps, empowering individuals and fostering long-term economic growth for the community. India’s top companies have participated in these job fairs, providing career opportunities to residents in diverse fields, including finance, insurance, retail, FMS, BPO, IT and logistics.
Empowerment Symposium
It focuses on understanding the challenges faced by women in Dharavi, particularly small-scale entrepreneurs and members of self-help groups (SHGs). This initiative provides a platform for women to discuss their issues and access tailored guidance and resources. By fostering a supportive environment and addressing barriers to employment or self-employment, the symposium enhances livelihoods of SHG members and contributes to the economic resilience of women in the community.
Empowered Horizons for women
This initiative encourages open discussions to understand the many personal and professional obstacles that women in Dharavi face while identifying skill gaps and job market demands. By aligning skills with employment opportunities and providing tools to overcome challenges, the program creates a supportive and inclusive environment that enables women to achieve personal and economic empowerment.
Pranic Healing Workshop
As part of Dharavi Health Connect initiative under DSM, this workshop familiarises Dharavi community to pranic healing techniques and meditation on twin hearts. These practices focus on cleansing, balancing, and energising participants’ energy fields to enhance their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. The workshop creates an environment where holistic health can flourish by promoting relaxation, resilience and improved energy levels, thus making it a transformative experience for the residents of Dharavi.
Youth engagement program ‘YUVA SAMWAD’
DSM recently launched its youth engagement programme, ‘Yuva Samvad’. This initiative is for men aged between 18 and 32 years. ‘Yuva Samvad’ aims to address some of the main challenges faced by Dharavi’s youth, like limited access to education, employment opportunities, and recreational avenues. The initiative serves as a platform for shaping upcoming skill development, mentorship, and career support programmes through a series of workshops and events.
Skill training programmes
Under DSM, mobile repair technique and advanced beauty therapy courses are carried out to train the youth of Dharavi. These month-long intensive training programs are conducted by Navbharat Mega Developers Private Limited. After the participants receive MSSU certification, they are assisted with getting employment opportunities with leading industry players.
